About the james kingham project (jkp)
The james kingham project known as jkp provides a safe, comfortable, non-drinking environment for people who wish to resolve an alcohol related issue. jkp can help individuals who are experiencing problems due to their own use of alcohol or we can support those who are affected by other peoples use of alcohol. jkp is a confidential and free service.
We offer a wide variety of services including brief interventions, one-to-one, open house drop in service, groups, information technology classes, aromatherapy and long term support plans. The project gives you an opportunity to think openly about why, when and how alcohol is affecting you, and gives you an opportunity to develop coping strategies and solutions that will work for you. We have good links with other support and services and can refer you to the service that best suits your needs.
So what's next?
You can refer yourself by calling us on the relevant number given in the contact us section of the site. We will arrange to meet you as soon as possible or ask you to attend the open house session nearest to you. Referrals can be made via your GP, hospital staff, social workers, housing officers, probation and police. This initially, will give you the opportunity to find out more about us and what working with us would mean to you.
Please do not come to jkp under the influence or smelling of alcohol or other drugs. If you are alcohol dependent, please ring and talk to a member of staff about using the project.
